God of Wrath by Rina Kent (Legacy of Gods #3)

Hello everyone! Welcome to another book review, thank you for taking the time to be here. Today I am bringing you yet another dark romance book, which is the third book of the Legacy of Gods series. Every time I read a book from the series, I think that the book I’m reading is my favourite, but each book surpasses the last one, and specifically, nothing changed with this book as well I truly believe that this was the best one I have read from the series so far. One quick disclaimer I want to do is that this book is incredibly dark. When I say dark, I mean truly dark. I thought Haunting Adeline was one of the books that would be on top wait it comes to the topics that were discussed and happened in the book; I was wrong LOL. This was very scary at certain points, and I really want to mention that if you don’t handle certain kinks well, please just pass this book. It’s not worth it. Your mental stability is more important. Nevertheless, did I like the book? Yes, I did. Is it shocking for anyone? Definitely not because I am an unstable wh*re at the heart, so please do enjoy the review.

There is so much to discuss I have no idea where to start. Our main characters are Jeremy and Cecily, two supportive characters from the previous two books. Jeremy is the heir to the Russian mafia, the cold man who is obsessed over protecting his little sister, the low-key psychopath, and the man who knows how to freak ladies out haha. Our female main character is Cecily, with her beautiful silver hair and mom’s behaviour. First two books she was pictured as this girl who was protecting each and everyone in the friend group; she was kind of lonely although she was always surrounded by people she loved. And in this book, I realised the reason that she was this lonely. I don’t know how I ended up realising that she felt like a character that had more depth in the first book, but I am genuinely impressed by how well her character has been written. She is kind of the girl who tries so hard to be normal for the sake of societal standards. She loves anime and manga which is the main reason that I love her more than the other characters in the book, I feel like she understands me in that part, and although she is this mother-like figure to her friends, she is a little twisted inside as well. Of course, this is to be expected when you are reading a dark romance book but still, the level of depravity she had in her was perfectly matching with what Jeremy had.

Their relationship is not very classic when it comes to the other two main relationships of the series, and at first, it starts off like a revenge for both of them but eventually, they both realise how well they fit together. In terms of spice and the dark romance aspect of the book, this was very very dark. The steam was on point, but again it had some scenes that left me questioning my sanity: a.k.a. roulette scene, oh god. It was very clear that they had something going on for the first two books as well, but I did not expect the depth of their connection, I assumed it would be like two stubborn characters grow together, but nope, definitely not, they felt like they were born to be together if anything else. they are like white and black, at least on the outside, however, when they are alone, you see how much Jeremy is trying to exist although he has the mind of a broken man and how much Cecily fights to keep up with the light she so yearns to be. The acceptance of each other was the best part of the book, the fact that they accepted each other as they are, Jeremy with his fears and brutal reality of being the heir to a literal mafia, and Cecily being this girl haunted by his past; however, at the end, the acceptance that makes both of them happy.

Character-wise, I still feel like I love Creighton more than Jeremy or Killian; however, plot-wise this book was the best one of the series so far. It is very apparent that our author Rina Kent is getting better as she writes books because I am currently reading one of her first books that is published, and I can tell you that she has grown so much, and it is a real talent that shines with consistency. I have mentioned this before in my old reviews as well, but I don’t like the female characters of the series very much because they are just airheaded, and they don’t have much depth, but I can tell you that Cecily was the best written one among the other two that I have read so far.

Overall I really enjoyed it and when you leave your brain to read dark romance books this series just does the trick for you, I will most likely continue the series and more Rina Kent books because I like her idea of using a “family” for variety of series altogether and the knowledge of certain characters within different books. I think it was very clever for her to do so and I don’t know the exact publishing order of these books but I really enjoy seeing separate characters within the series.

If you are OK with the trigger warnings of this book and in order to check them out completely please check her website, please do give this a try! I will see you in my next post, take care and stay safe.
