Hello friends! ✌🏻 How are you all doing? You were not expecting me to show up with another review so soon, right? I surprised myself, too. While writing the last review, something funny happened. While I was wrapping up my thoughts on Sergei and Angelina, the fourth book suddenly popped into my mind. I actually read it a while ago and never sat down to talk about it, so here we are. I figured it was the perfect time to share my thoughts while the series is still fresh in my head.
This story follows Isabella Agostini, the granddaughter of the Chicago Cosa Nostra Don, and Luca Rossi, the man who once saved her life when she was a child. Isabella has carried a quiet crush on Luca ever since that day. Years later, her grandfather arranges a marriage between them to strengthen the family’s power. Isabella is pushed from a life of sheltered privilege straight into the arms of the man she has admired for years, though it turns out to be far less like a fairytale than she once imagined.
Luca is distant and cold when we first meet him in this book. He keeps his emotions buried and treats the marriage as a business arrangement. Isabella, on the other hand, is determined to prove she is more than the little girl he once rescued. Their early interactions are tense and full of small, sharp moments that made me want to see how they would finally break through to each other. The mafia setting brings plenty of danger, shifting alliances, and quiet threats that keep the story moving.
Their romance is a slow burn, full of trust issues and guarded feelings. There is a twist later on that changes the direction of their relationship. I will not spoil it, but it adds a different layer of tension and forces them to show how much they really care. The twist was fine for me. It did not blow me away, but it worked well enough to keep me curious until the end.
Isabella’s growth is what I liked most. She is not perfect and sometimes makes choices that made me sigh, but she gains strength as she steps into her new role. Luca stays mysterious for a long time, and while I wished we had more of his past, the quieter moments when he finally lets her in were some of the best scenes.
Overall, it was a decent read. I enjoyed the mafia backdrop and the slow burn between Isabella and Luca, but it did not grip me as much as Sergei’s story in the third book. It has action, steam, and that classic dark romance energy, but it stays a comfortable 3⭐ read for me.
Until next time, take care friends, and thank you for stopping by! ❤️🫂
