Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami – Fearsome Womb Arc Review

Hello friends! I hope you are doing well and happy! 🌸 For today, I’ve decided to continue the arc reviews of Jujutsu Kaisen, one of my favourite series of all time. Since we have the new season of the anime, and the manga going insane these days, I felt like we need to talk about it, so I hope you enjoy it! 🖖🏻

Fearsome Womb Arc is easily one of my favourites even after all the chapters I’ve read ever since. The main reason for that is the fact that the introductions of most of my favourite characters were made here. We see the main characters of our manga, well, at least the main part of them for the first few arcs, and it was done so smoothly, focusing on each one in different moments, with different actions and all done.

We finally get to know our main character who is quite literally a stonehead but could be easily one of my favourite characters from the entire Isekai genre I have read over the years. Our main character is Itadori Yuji, who has some exceptional physical abilities even though he has no cursed energy and he is just great at sports fighting and things he does besides using his brain. Of course, he looks this goofy and not so much of a thinker however as the series progresses we see how deep his thoughts and his personality are; however, it is for the review of upcoming arcs so I am not going to spoil you.

Just know that he is this goofy character who has the will to protect people he loves and help people who are in need. At first, he just feels like a people pleaser who has no better job than just trying to save people however he is just a complex character who grew up without parents, not only that he was raised by a very grumpy old man whom he loses in the series’ beginning as well.

Yuji finds himself at school and he finds an object which is what we know as the cursed object which connects the high-level curses to their power. Throughout the series, we see different kinds of cursed objects and they are not always the same type of thing; it’s not always a body part of that curse or their energy. This specific cursed object, however, is actually a finger of one of the worst curses the entire world has ever seen. Ryomen Sukuna. We do not know much about this character in this arc but our main character ends up meeting with Fushiguro Megumi, a student in Jujutsu Sorcerer High School, and the person who was sent to get that cursed object from the high school and bring it back safely to the school grounds.

Of course, does that ever happen? Absolutely not. They end up coming across a few low-grade curses and Itadori finds himself between two options. Either he’s going to consume that cursed item and save his friends and Megumi, or he is going to accept losing another person from his life.

That is the breaking point of our character. That is the main characteristic that he has. He had lost so much in his past that he simply could not stand losing someone else even though that person may be a new friend or someone that he just met. He has this urge to save and protect and he chooses the unfortunate one. I consider this as an unfortunate one because, for the upcoming few arcs, this character has been thoroughly developed with pain only. It is almost too much for my little heart and I feel so sad for him. Nevertheless, they take him back to high school and his journey starts.

He has no idea about cursed techniques, he has no idea about cursed energy, he has no idea about how to be a jujutsu sorcerer, but will that stop him from achieving his goal of saving people? I doubt it. We meet several other characters as Itadori gets ready for his life as a jujutsu sorcerer, and they go on their first, maybe the most horrific mission together. The curses are graded on their energy level, and our team of three finds themselves in a horrible state.

Overall this arc was a great beginning for a very long series which I’m very fond of today, and I cannot wait to show you the rest of the arcs. Do read the fearsome womb arc prepared because it is not fit for the light-hearted fellas we have. Until I see you on my next post, take care! ✨
