Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan

I lost my heart to you. And, Bree, in case you’re wondering, I don’t ever want it back.

Hello friends, welcome to another post! Today’s book is actually one of my 2023 favourites, it is only the beginning of the year, I know, but I do not think that I will read anything else that will take this one from the first three and put it behind. The book I am talking about is Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan and let me explain something really quick. There is a reason that this book’s Goodreads rating is this high. There is a solid reason that this book got all the hype. This was so… so beautiful in its own way and I am so happy that I had the chance to read it, I am so glad that I got to know these two amazing characters in this story. It planted hope in my chest, I felt emotions I rarely feel in real life, shed a lot of tears throughout the book and I am so happy that I am writing this review right now.

If I could give one million stars to this book, I would. Damn, I would gladly wrap the night sky and gift it to Mia Sheridan for giving us this beautiful story. We start the book with Archer, our male protagonist. We get a small glimpse of what happens on a particular day when his life changes forever. Then we have Bree, our beautiful girl, the girl haunted by the past, the girl who decided to leave her hometown, her city and everything behind in order to make herself safe, in order to recover, and she comes to Pelion, a little lake town full of amazing side characters. She decides to settle down for a short while, not thinking of the town as her home… until she meets Archer Hale, the local mute boy who she finds incredibly interesting at the first sight. We read an amazing development between Bree and archer throughout the book, we read them as they build their friendship and find love, we read about Bree making Archer feel like a man again, and we read about her own suffering and healing thanks to this mute man her heart beats for. Everything about their story was so sweet and kind, I cried several times throughout the book.

Bree is an amazing girl with a strong will and, it is not her long brown hair or warm eyes that make her unique; what makes her unique is the passion she has even after suffering through the loss of a loved one, not only that but the trauma of the incident’s nature. She is haunted by nightmares and flashbacks of the incident, however, she still finds the power to spark something in Archer’s chest. Oh, Archer… A man who had given up on everything. A man who saw no reason to move on, isolated for years because of everything he had been through. That spark she plants in his chest turns into a fire, a fire which is not destructive but warming, healing, covering the open wounds and protecting them from further ripping. That spark healed them both, showing the true nature of what we think of love, and how beautiful it can get even though there are heartbreaks and pain along the way.

I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you.

Contrary to most romance novels I tend to read, this one didn’t shatter me, the story’s hope and warmth kept me awake until one in the morning, making me feel all sorts of emotions I didn’t know existed. I am in love, and I understand how love makes me feel but these two souls written in this book? The word love gained a whole other meaning to it after reading it. As I’ve mentioned, we see a great deal of character development from both sides and also from the side characters in the story. There is no big bad villain or horrible person going on, we do have a maniac who had hurt Bree and a freak with lust for power who had hurt Archer, however all in all, I loved that these two freaks took only a little space in their story, they were almost used as tools for them to grow and learn how to heal themselves and nothing more. Perhaps this is the reason I’m so fond of this story, the fact that there was nothing toxic or overbearing about it made me feel at ease even though there were moments when they both shared their pasts, and those moments were not easy to read. They both hurt so much, and they both carried so much that they truly needed one another. They needed each other in order to get through life and in the end… Well, that’s for you to read.

The writing of the book was so nice; easy to read, giving all the feels we needed, and giving us enough insight into our characters so that we could get closer to them. Maybe it was the story, maybe the writing or maybe -possibly- both but this book was a half-a-day read for me and I do not remember any book I read this fast after binging Mindf*ck series a couple of months ago. I loved every aspect of it. I truly wish to read more like this, so clan, kind and caring. It is spicy too, again, in every good way! Everything was amazing about this book and here I am with a heart full of ⭐s! Please take your time and read this book. I mean it. I truly mean it. Until I see you in my next post friends, take care! 💖
