3.5 ⭐s!
The second book of the famous CEO boys series is done and I am officially over with myself. I admit that I have no self-respect and I keep reading these books because OH MY GOD they are hot. Very much so. 🥵
While I was reading the first book I genuinely thought that I would love Jace more than the other two boys, however, this book was an emotional rollercoaster. I think I will stick with Gabe and I don’t think my thoughts will change during the third book either because this is 2010 vibes of erotica. All of them are amazing boys, and neither of them is perfect but let’s be honest, men written by women is exactly why we keep reading this genre, so before someone starts trying to destroy me by saying how toxic these males are… I am aware baby. “But I read because I have a mind of a slut and the heart of a healthy woman.” (Shoutout to the original voice owner on Instagram lol) 🍭.
Like I mean during 2010 and forward there is this certain narrative of incredibly rich, prestigious, high-end, well-branded man and there is usually this girl who is either rich or incredibly poor, or have some kind of privilege or none, and we would read the way they fall in love and find the true love in a matter of a couple of weeks. And live happily forever.
The fact that this was that kind of erotica doesn’t make it any less good though. My main issue is the fact that the characters, our two main characters were incredibly indecisive and they both decided to not trust each other for almost the entire book. Our girl comes from a very hard background and our boy also comes from a hard background (compared to her however, I’d say that he is good), but he is well-privileged right now and he has everything that he can imagine.
The fact that these two different “world” kinds of people falling in love and finding love within each other were incredibly heart-warming. However, the fact that the author kept this tension of distrust and misleading of each other for the entire book; up until the first couple of pages up to the climax bothered the f*** out of me. They could have overcome the hardships they saw together, however, instead of that, our author decided to let one of them cry herself to sleep because she thought she didn’t deserve anything and the other punched walls screaming at his best friends and cursing himself over to things he has done instead of trying to teach himself something that he did wrong.
That part should have been only the first half of the book. After that part, I would love to see some kind of character development in these two well-thought people who ended up falling in love with each other. I would love to see Jace trying to pull himself back up and clear his mind to learn how to be kind and learn how to not overreact to things. And I would love to see her trusting herself, thinking that she matters and learning that she matters. But no, after reading like 300 page long book and you come to the last 20 pages and immediately, BOOM! With some magical shit happening they overcome their issues and live happily forever? Jace is the coldest out of the three, at least my thought on him would be like that. He is the one who had to take care of his baby sister from a very young age and Beth looked like something to “protect” for a very long time. Even Ash mentioned it, causing him to think about whether this was an obsession or something that can be called love. Of course with the steamy scenes book was less slow than the first one and I devoured it in a few days, but I believe this was mainly because of the female lead; Bethany, who actually had to endure so much in her short life. She was an interesting touch to this genre, and I love a story with a healing woman so I wanted to give half more stars just for her.
Again I’m happy that they are happy and I wish them well even though they oh actually not people and book characters but still, you know what I mean right?
I don’t think that I will immediately start the third book because I am not ready for this CEO threesome we have here so, I will read it after some time and I’m sure it will be like 3.5 up until 4 kind of book. But again I’m not saying anything bad regarding this because I did enjoy the steamy scenes in the book so it was a decent and a quick read. 🤷🏻♂️
I will see you in my next review bye-bye! 💖
