january wrap up 2023

Hello friends! Welcome back to my blog. Today’s blog post is all about the books I read in January. I’ve started the year relatively fast and hope to continue this as much as possible throughout the year! I’ve finished this month with 9 excellent books and though I haven’t shared most reviews, some are scheduled already so keep an eye on them here so that you can read my reviews once they are published! 💖

I won’t be going in order, I will write them down randomly because one, I am lazy to find them one by one on Goodreads and two I do not really think that it matters lol. Every book name has its Goodreads link so if you want to check them out and read the reviews, please do!

#1,2,3 Tenki Ko No by Makoto Shinkai
This amazing short series became a bomb after its movie and I’m one of those people who will first read the source material and then watch everything, and I am so glad that I did the same with this series as well! 🌸 It is a series of three volumes; a fairly short and uncomplicated, heart-warming, kind story of two friends trying to bring the sun back to make people happy. I already posted a review on this, so click here to read it! All three manga were solid 5⭐s for me!

#4 God of Malice by Rina Kent
I have already written my blog post and scheduled it but omg this book was a complete emotional rollercoaster for me. I cannot say that I hated it because it would be lying for sure, however, I cannot tell that it was one of the best dark romances I’ve ever read. I genuinely had problems with its characters but the steam was so good? Am I making any sense right now? Anyways, it was a decent read and though I started reading this in December 2022, I finished it in January so I count this as a 2023 book! 💁🏻‍♀️

#5 Fever by Maya Banks
This month’s fifth book was the second book in an adult romance series. I read Rush last year and did finish the second book of the Breathless series quite quickly even though it was again another 3⭐ book for me. It was quick, Jace was cool but surely annoying, and the main female character was decent. I enjoyed it and I have already written the reviews of both books, and scheduled them! Check out my blog to see the reviews in February!

#6 Galatea by Madeline Miller
My sixth book was actually a short story by Miller, the queen of my heart and the nightmare of ancient Greek historians lol. It was exactly how I expected it to be, well-written, well thought, and detailed even though it was quite short and desperate to show another perspective of the well-known stories we all memorized. I highly suggest you read it if you like any of her other books because it was pretty good!🤞🏻

#7 Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
If you were a reader in our OG young adult era, you’d probably read this book. Back then, I consumed every “dystopian” book that existed, from best-sellers like Divergent to things that we never heard of. However, I remember being so sceptical about this book ONLY because of its cover (a weird-looking model pose omfg, I saved you by using this cover here) it made me not want to read the book. I’ve spent years keeping it on the side but ever since it became so famous on bookstagram, I see Warner everywhere. It got to a point where I felt like I needed to read it no matter what. And I beg of you, please don’t make fun of me but this book was SO FUCKING AMAZING EVEN THOUGH I WOULDN’T CONSIDER THIS A DYSTOPIAN BUT A YOUNG ADULT ROMANCE I DO NOT GIVE A DAMN. I gave it 4⭐s and I have no shame.

#8 The Remarried Empress 2
My eighth “book” of the month was actually a webtoon which I love with all my heart. After not being able to follow the season as it was published on Webtoon, I decided to wait until the season was over and binge-read! I am so glad that I did it! One of my favourite stories I’ve been following so far and I think everyone will enjoy it 💘

#9 Fear by Stefan Zweig
The last book I finished this month was from Zweig, an author I had no interest in because of the hype of 13-year-old kids. I know it sounds cliche for me to say it but whenever people start talking about a particular classic (modern classic in this case) and if I understand that this person only reads the book because of its popularity; I lose my all interest in that book. Recently in Turkey, every publishing house started to press Zweig books and it is everywhere; OVERWHELMINGLY. I didn’t want to be a b*tch about it anymore and decided to start reading Zweig. The more I skipped, the more it became a reason to fear. I am not quite sure what to think about it, I need to read more books from him but as a start, it was lovely.

How many books did you read this month? Also if you have any recommendations for me, please do! I am always open to some refreshing books. ✨❤ Until I see you in my next post friends!
