7 Adult Fantasy Recommendations (Sizzling Romances!)

Warning: These books/series I am about to recommend to you are adult books including strong language and very steamy -very steamy indeed- romances. If you do not enjoy reading sexy shower scenes or theatrical love confessions in bed, just stay away from these ones, I can recommend you something calmer if you want! I highly suggest readers above the age of 18 to check these books out!

Welcome to another blog post lovelies! It has been a long time and I hope you all are doing great! Today, I am going to share with you seven beautiful adult fantasy romance books that I think anyone who loves adult romances should read. There will be angels, there will be dragons and demons, even some vampires here and there. The order of these books are based on how many books I’ve read from the series. Some of them are incredibly long, let me tell you that (over 18 books) and I have not finished all of them completely but I’ve read enough to recommend.

The one thing about these series is that they differ from book to book. For example I wasn’t a huge fan of the eighth book from the Lords of the Underworld series but the first five books were delightful. Keep that in mind, in most of these series, each book focuses on a different male/female protagonist’s story but the general plot is big and exciting. There are enemies, real deal enemies in each book and usually the main boss (the enemy, lol) is one through the series. This sounds like an over-generalization however this is the case with most of the series I am going to recommend today.

If you want to check these series, click the names and it will directly send you to Goodreads where you can read more about them from different perspectives.

Lords of the Underworld Series by Gena Showalter
I remember finding about this series back in 2016 when I was craving some adult fantasy and something easy to read. I was obsessed with Greek mythology -I still am and it is even more unhealthy lol- and the moment I have realized that each book focuses on one ancient Greek warrior who did something so bad and ended up being punished for eternity, I went mad. I immediately bought the first five books because only they were published during that time and started reading the series. I finished the eighth book not so long ago and even though it was one of my least favorites, it was still cool! The female protagonist was a little annoying and rude which made me cringe a couple of times throughout the book but overall it was a fine book. Ancient warriors with sins, their special ladies and in the big picture, the enemies who try to ruin the world. I believe that is the main reason I’ve kept reading and will keep reading these books because it is not only sex scenes and romance. It has something bigger, an enemy, a friend and it is filled with amazing side characters with strong backgrounds. Sounds great isn’t it?

Dragon Kin Series by G.A. Aiken
Let me tell you something vitally important before writing anything. I am obsessed with dragons in every possible way and if there is a book including dragons, I’ll read it ignoring the plot. Since I am this crazy about dragons, can you imagine how HAPPY and DESTROYED I was once I heard about this series which had a dragon royal family and labeled as an adult fantasy? You’ve read it completely correctly. This series is about a dragon royal family and focuses on each brother/sister/and later other side characters finding their love. They are violent, they are sexy, there is an ongoing war between humans, dragons and other dragon species, and female main characters actually have a decent character and soul. I have read the first five books of these series and I can say one thing surely: the women in this series are incredible, strong, independent and clever. We have a queen, a witch, a bibliophile, a dragon and many… If you like dragons, check this series immediately!

Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning
Who doesn’t love an old, gloomy city, stone buildings with pointed roofs and a sexy fae with Irish accent? Are you looking for the delicious fae of this dark city? Welcome my friends, Karen M. Moning has been waiting for you. This destructively written series was one of the first adult romance series I’ve read and it is also one of the darker ones as well. Even though I knew the concept of adult romances by the time I got this book, oh man I was not ready. I was not ready for Mac, I was not ready for her courage, I was not ready for her sharp-tongue and I was surely not ready for what was ahead of her. Woooooh, one of the sexiest male leads of adult fantasy here, Jericho, sometimes a complete a**hole sometimes a romantic lover, bipolar? Not likely. However reading this book was such fun I must say. The darkness of the setting and the world, the grief coming from both characters, the story which makes you feel all hot and sad at the same time… It was phenomenal. I’ve only read the first five books of the series and I already feel complete enough as it is so I do not see myself continuing the series this year at least but I am sure that the first five books will be one of your favorite adult fantasies. It is pretty intense with you-know-what scenes and language but Karen M. Moning is a talent. I highly appreciate a good written book and these series my friends, these series are great.

Guild Hunter Series by Nalini Singh
We talked about fae, we talked about dragons, we talked about sexy ancient warriors and now it is time for a story filled with angels. Another series with great style of writing and some darkness. The series takes place on earth where every kind of fantasy being exist: including angels, vampires and even hunters! The series follows different characters in every couple of books. I’ve only read the first four books of the series and I must say that even though I love Raphael a lot -like a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot- I loved the change of the setting and the perspective of our characters. In a series this long, sometimes you need to spice things up by showing all the different pieces of the world you’ve built and Nalini Singh my friends, does this really well. There is love, there are your steamy moments, there is a war between all beings, there is revenge… all you can imagine, all in this series. I must admit that after reading the first four books back to back, I wanted to give a small break to focus on different things but I can see myself re-reading the first four and start the series all over again! I highly recommend this series for those who love some steam with fantasy elements. It will surely meet your expectations.

Warriors Of Poseidon Series by Alyssa Day
Muscular, sexy, warrior men living in the ocean; coming from the city of Atlantis… How does that sound? Welcome to the world of Atlantean Warriors, we have a lot of drama, steam and love. Like most of these fantasy romance books, each book of the series follows different main characters and their story of finding love. To be quite frank, I wasn’t very fond of the first book of the series. The female lead was so confused, often did something stupid and even though I liked the male lead, a generic alphahole (I hear you Maas!) in a good way, she was the one who made me hesitant to continue the coming books. For some reason I ended up getting the next three and read them all in an instant. It is indeed a good romance book if you don’t think too much about it. Our warriors are the protectors of the world we know. There are vampires who try to take over the world and other bigger enemies whom we see in coming books. The main reason I kept reading the series  was the bigger plot. Even though you get different stories with different characters in each book, even though all your handsome warriors get involved in something different; you have a big plot which connects all the characters and the books well. It reminded me of the Lords of the Underworld series a lot! Overall, it is a good paranormal series if you want to spend some fun time with warriors. The only thing that I should mention is that yes, these men come from underwater but the most of the action happens above water. Did it bother me? Not so really; because I didn’t really care too much whether they kicked some bad men’s ass underwater or above water. If you want to give a chance, they get solid three stars from me!

Nightwing Series by Juliette Cross
Completely irrelevant about our topic however my all time favorite comic character is Dick Grayson, also known as Nightwing. When I saw the book and the publisher kindly offered to send it, I knew I would love it no matter what it was about. It was named the same as my favorite comic book character and first fictional crush… I had to like it, you know? Sentimental issues. I ended up reading them at one sitting since my publishing house shoved them all together in one edition. I had fun, I totally did, even though it had less steamy scenes than I thought it would have. It takes place in the world of humans and Morgons, dragon-ish beings who bear the power of dragons. The books focus on different characters in each book and we read through their stories of finding love. Even though I enjoyed all three since I’ve read them all at once, I mainly think that my enjoyment came from the books being so… easy. They had no bigger plot, no secret war, no political distortion… nothing. They almost felt like they were written for steam and I was completely fine with it. I sometimes find easy to read books more approachable especially in the adult fantasy/romance area. If you need to get away from your reality and get some rest by reading a paranormal romance, I recommend this series to you!

Black Dagger Brotherhood Series by J.R. Ward
Oh, finally we are at the last but certainly not the least recommendation of all, one of my favorite series of all time (considering that I have read the first two books for the second time recently), The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by the genius J.R. Ward. I am saying genius because I can tell you that this woman knows what she wants and shows it to the reader perfectly. Even though the series and its plot are not something new to this whole paranormal romance world, it still manages to shine through the ocean of books. It is closer to the first series I have mentioned to you, especially LOTU by Gena Showalter. The world is set up between the vampires and humans. Humans are the dominating species of the world we know, however Vampires are the ones who protect both themselves and humans from something called Omega. The famous Black Dagger Brotherhood males are your usual alpha figures who is muscular, who women beg to have sex with, all that scary looking like marble statues from ancient times. I know what you are thinking… It is nothing new is it? We have seen this all before a thousand times, handsome warriors finding their love and usually the series has some other big plot to follow. Exactly the same thing happens here. The so-called Omega wishes to kill humanity to make the lessers and itself rule the world. Each book goes deeper and deeper in the plot and the more is considered as spoiler so I won’t grumble on this matter too much. Let’s talk about why I love this basic vampire romance books this much: all thanks to the author. The language is somewhere between fancy and simple. It has been written so well that I do not remember rolling my eyes to anything. I especially love how our male leads are named: Wrath, Rhage, Tohrment… Do you see it? Queen of puns, I love it! I believe small things like this make the series very beautiful and funny to read. I also have to mention that our female leads are decent women with some back bone. Powerful figurines with lots of to do. I appreciate it a lot as well. Long story short: I highly suggest this series to you!

If you somehow ended up here, welcome, thank you for reading this long-ass post. It has been a while and I am still trying to figure out my life since I am getting ready to get married, but it is always good to be here. Thank you for being here again, if you have any suggestions for me to read leave a comment below I would love to check them!

Love you lots! See you in my next post!
